Music News and Tour Dates American Idol is one of the greatest shows ever created and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm addicted to it. I've watched every show religiously and thought that I had it all figured out. Boy, was I wrong! Every week since the final 12 were selected I was always right about who was going to be eliminated. I mean really, we all know who the weakest links are (and they know it too). But we were all thrown for a loop this week when the top three singers in the entire competition, were said to be at the bottom after the final vote. What happened next will go down as one of the biggest American Idol injustices in history. Instead of a certain someone going home (I won't mention any names, all I'm saying is "Mandy") Jennifer went. This is not only unfair to Jennifer, but unfair to those of us who have to sit through another one of his performances. Let's fix our mistake America, it's the least we can do. Vh1 Divas Live 2004 was a smash this year. The one thing that set this year's performance apart from the other ones is the fact that the singers made it a point to not only sing but to entertain and that's exactly what they did. Everyone (except Ashanti and Tom Jones) pulled together to make the show unforgettable. Some of the highlights of the show include performances from Eve and Blondie doing "Rapture", Cyndi Lauper and Patti Labelle with "Time After Time" and Joss Stone with Blondie singing "One Way or Another". Just when you think it can't get any better, it does. It all ended with the ladies (and Tom Jones but who really cares) doing a tribute to the '80s, which consisted of a snippet of "Glamorous Life" by Sheila E., "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper and a half-hearted production of "Cain't Nobody" by Ashanti. All in all, it was a tremendous show for a great cause. If you didn't see it, you definitely need to catch it. It's worth the two hours. When you go to a concert, you expect to have the time of your life. But you don't expect to lose your life. Sadly, that's exactly what happened to 21 year-old Alecia Holst when she suffered from a heart attack during a Slipknot concert in Detroit on the 16th and died four days later. Holst, a senior at Central Michigan University, experienced sudden arrhythmia and was treated on the scene. Firefighters did all that they could to revive Holst and their efforts were rewarded because she survived long enough to make it to the hospital where it was determined that there was no hope for Holst because her brain had been without oxygen for 20 minutes. "If she had survived with her heart [in that condition], she would have had no capability as far as brain activity," Holst's mother said. Our condolences go out to the Holst family. Tour Dates Yes, it's that time again. Summer's coming and that means there are going to be tours galore and I'm going to make sure to keep you posted.
